I see that there are plenty Blogs informing Samsung about issues with the Omnia phone, here I would like to discuss two issues. Release frequency of Roms and Change logs for those roms.. maybe what we can expect in future roms.
We all understand that no human invention or creation can be perfect. But we should endeavor to fix issues experienced by said creations in the pursue of perfection. That is what all customers want.
With Rom's being made available to the rest of the world, why would it take so long for it to be filtered to us poor South African consumers. It would be great to see a list of issues currently under investigation on this web site. Release numbers assigned to issues, and when we can expect said releases of ROMS and upgrades. Please do not forget enhancements and integrated third party software and hardware.
I think, making this available for all consumers (including me) would shut us up to a certain extent.
Obviously, if something is not fixed, a answer is not given or is not satisfactory to our needs and requirement, we will make our voices heard.
I would like this blog to serve as some sort of petition to get this made available to us... and "any" Samsung SA and international representative to please make the companies view on this matter known.
Waiting in anticipation.

RE: OMNIA i900 ROM update frequency and change log
Submitted by Samsung_Team on Wed, 2009-03-18 15:52.We are unfortunately unable to publicly disclose our software ‘release notes’. Each new ROM build for a product like the Omnia is country specific, and indeed, Network Operator specific. Because of this fact, there are sometimes changes specific to a particular Operator that are made within a specific ROM. This information is then considered to be confidential and subject to Non Disclosure Agreements between Samsung and the Relevant Operator. We not at liberty to disclose the changes that are made due to this legal obligation.
Regarding the timing of ROM releases, previously on this blog mention was made of the intensive evaluation and testing process that is undergone between Samsung and the Operator. We cannot release ROM files locally until the version has been approved by the relevant Operator. This process is time consuming, but ultimately designed to protect you, the consumer. Individual networks are all configured differently and effectively completing this interoperability testing is in the best interest of the end user. We realise this can lead to frustrations, and we apologise for this, but unfortunately this is the process determined by the Network Operators in South Africa and we are obliged to follow it.
Thank you...

I greatly appreciate your honesty and response to my comments.
I would just like a little more detail.
Is this only in SA? As once again. Other parts of this world does get this detail. from Samsung and other sites.
Also I would like to know if we can download any additional widgets from samsung for our phones? were is the best place to do so?
Can we expect a new release soon?
Thanks
RE: Thank you...
Submitted by Samsung_Team on Sun, 2009-04-05 22:27.Hi Jody,
WM 6.5 Update
We unfortunately cannot confirm whether the i780, i600 and Omnia will have Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrades available at this time. We will always endeavour to support our customers as far as is possible. If it becomes feasible to create these versions, we will make them available here on the blog as soon as we can. We do not have confirmation in terms of product compatibility with WM 6.5 from our engineers as yet, but will keep you posted.
Omnia Reloaded
We will soon make an updated Omnia software available for all to download. This new version supports two additional Samsung features, namely SharePix and Downloadable Widgets. SharePix will enable you to directly upload photos and videos to some of the most widely supported Social Networking sites available on the internet (Facebook, Picasa, YouTube, Flickr, Friendster, Photobucket, Windows Live Spaces and Blogger). SharePix makes taking a photo and getting it onto your Facebook page as simple as can be. The other new addition is Downloadable widgets. The amazing widgets you can drag and drop onto your desktop on the Omnia can now be supplemented by an entire range of new widgets. Just open the “More Widgets” Widget and you will see a list of amazing services you can have displayed directly on your desktop just by downloading them. This update will be available for you to download soon.

Upgrade samsung omnia from 6.1 to 6.5
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 2009-06-15 19:56.Hi.
Is it really possible to upgrade the actual samsung omnia i900 with the WM 6.5?
I would like to buy one but i'm sure you would agree with me, it's quite unnecessary to buy it now if we cannot upgrade it. it would be preferable to wait for Samsung to launch another phone with the 6.5 operational.
So thank you and hope to here from you soon.

What is worse is the first time i got this phone in my hands and wanted to install spb mobile shell 2.1 and i phoned samsung south africa they could not figure it out how to install this beautiful application.
I mean everytime i log into samsung south africa for upgrades is always the same stuff to download why dont u try [link removed for terms of use violation - Ed] and tell me if we are not behind?
That is the site where i get all my application and software and roms updates.
Windows Mobile 6.5
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Fri, 2009-04-10 18:39.Hi, I'm Dan from the Philippines.
I congratulate the Samsung Team for producing a balanced and well-designed phone. Currently the best-selling PDA phone in Asia (based on my research in the Internet).
As a celebrated phone, it is only natural for users to clamor for a Windows Mobile 6.5 update. If "modders" can "cook" custom ROMs, then it is highly possible for Samsung engineers to develop this update even in the midst of the inter-operability issues with operators. (Not to mention that WM 6.5 is still in its beta.)
Samsung's move towards the Android platform for the Omnia is an indication that the Omnia WM lineup is here to stay. There is even an iteration of the Omnia called the Omnia New Edition (in the Philippines) with few software tweaks and a minor hardware upgrade that adds a light sensor adjacent to the front facing camera.
We want Windows Mobile 6.5 update! Thank you.

RE: how to upload photo through Sharepix
Submitted by Samsung_Team on Wed, 2009-05-27 15:15.Hi Kathleen
Open the Sharepix application on your phone. Select “Update” to refresh the list of available sites. Select the site and a pop up will be shown, giving you the option to “Upload”, “Go to Site” or “Delete”. Select “Upload” (ensure that you have registered with the site and have your Username and password handy). The next page shows “album”. Click on the empty Tab to list your albums. Select your desired album and then select “Add files” and then “Upload” to send your files to the web.
Once this is done, you can also load directly from the camera. Take your Pic, Select the Send Icon on the right hand side, then select the “web” icon, this will launch the sharepix. Hope this helps.

Extra apps
Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Mon, 2009-06-08 23:22.So where exactly would one find the Sharepix and Widgets application on the new Vodacom omnia firmware. Or was this left out to make way for the branding junk included again ?
RE: Extra apps
Submitted by Samsung_Team on Tue, 2009-06-16 20:22.The Sharepix and Widgets application have not been built into the Vodacom build as, the way the software has been implemented with the current setup of the applications and widgets has been defined by Vodafone globally, and is unfortunately out of our control.
