We are unfortunately unable to publicly disclose our software ‘release notes’. Each new ROM build for a product like the Omnia is country specific, and indeed, Network Operator specific. Because of this fact, there are sometimes changes specific to a particular Operator that are made within a specific ROM. This information is then considered to be confidential and subject to Non Disclosure Agreements between Samsung and the Relevant Operator. We not at liberty to disclose the changes that are made due to this legal obligation.

Regarding the timing of ROM releases, previously on this blog mention was made of the intensive evaluation and testing process that is undergone between Samsung and the Operator. We cannot release ROM files locally until the version has been approved by the relevant Operator. This process is time consuming, but ultimately designed to protect you, the consumer. Individual networks are all configured differently and effectively completing this interoperability testing is in the best interest of the end user. We realise this can lead to frustrations, and we apologise for this, but unfortunately this is the process determined by the Network Operators in South Africa and we are obliged to follow it.

I congratulate the Samsung Team for producing a balanced and well-designed phone. Currently the best-selling PDA phone in Asia (based on my research in the Internet).

As a celebrated phone, it is only natural for users to clamor for a Windows Mobile 6.5 update. If "modders" can "cook" custom ROMs, then it is highly possible for Samsung engineers to develop this update even in the midst of the inter-operability issues with operators. (Not to mention that WM 6.5 is still in its beta.)

Samsung's move towards the Android platform for the Omnia is an indication that the Omnia WM lineup is here to stay. There is even an iteration of the Omnia called the Omnia New Edition (in the Philippines) with few software tweaks and a minor hardware upgrade that adds a light sensor adjacent to the front facing camera.

hi, i was trying to upload photos in my omia i900 mobile using sharepix...however, i couln't find any button nor option that allows me to locate the photo file for upload..how am i suppose to upload the picture via omnia? appreciate if you can reply by showing the steps...thanks!

Will the Samsung Omnia i900 be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5?

So where exactly would one find the Sharepix and Widgets application on the new Vodacom omnia firmware. Or was this left out to make way for the branding junk included again ?

i too would like to seee wm6.5 upgrade as we customers of your products are entitled to get the upgrade when it becomes availble during the second half of the season and i had been testing the beta versoin from secktor which i had no problems with it but only the battery side of it or i mite need a new battery but all in please will you make it availble for it i love my i900 its just the best and i think it has so much potential mide my spelling mistake

I took the chance downloaded win mobile 6.5 and installed on my phone (omnia), so far no problems... Garmin etc on micro sd card so all that still works fine...
found it to be more user frienly then 6.1...

please can you test it out im very sure it will work well dont make me sell my omnia coz i dont want too it just takes the best photos in crisp clear and i can just go on n on n on

Last week I downloaded the file :Mobidiv WM6.1 install FIX.cab from the thread

And after restarting my Omnia it shows the green screen of Windows mobile and then it freezes, tried resetting it using the call+ end and restart to format but in vain.

I tried connecting it to the computer but even the computer didn't display the Omnia folder .

Can anyone help please?

Zaid, try reinstalling the old or new windows. If nothing works try sending your phone back to your service provider if the phone is still under warrenty,

I can not send mms on my phone. I can receive them. when I try to send them... it says that it not supported. has there been any changes made to correct this situation.
My phone is version i900DXHG4/DXHG4.
I have to set my phone to United Kingdom to use T-mobile. Is there an USA access point other the wap.uk.samsungmobile.com. will the software in the omnia locked on the AT&T network be of any help.
will the samsung data kit help to forward text messages as that service is un available too

Good day, still waiting for a link please. I just bought a i900 from Vodacom on contract and was discusted to find out that 6.5 has been released more than a month ago but the new phones aren't supported.
Paying R 8000 for omnia isn't cheap, what would you say if you couldn't upgrade your new pc to windows 7 and had to run xp????? Sorry for spelling

dzia5 is from the singapore server when you just go http://sg.samsungmobile.com/omnia/download/softwareupdate somewhere along those lines but dzia5 is a 6.1 rom i have been testing it out i pefer dxia5 more memory n no bugs

When i try to flash dxia5 over dzia5 it says wrong version.

I think samsung, has let us all down in terms of its relaease of the i900, a lot of users i know including my self bought the omina i900 to eventually upgrade it to win 6.5. Other providers have come to the table and have made upgrades available.

I think next time its a HTC for me.

Maybe I should just switch to an iPhone at least their updates are regular. The WM6.5 should of been available to us alraidy. Samsung, if you do no get your act together, you've lost another client and I don't only mean a mobile phone client, try your entire range of products.

Although I understand that these new ROMs must be properly tested for our network operators, we in SA STILL have to wait MONTH's for updates to be released were other contries did testing and released them timeously! Why?
